Graduated Drivers Licensing is a system that allows teens to gradually ease into driving, by slowly increasing their driving privileges as they advance through the stages. Michigans's GDL consists of two segments of training and instruction and three levels of licensing. Segment 1
consists of at least 24 hours of classroom instruction and a minimum of
6 hours of live behind the wheel training. License Level 1:
